The 26-year-old professional kickboxer Youssef B., also known as Garfield, has been sentenced to 40 months in prison by the court in Antwerp. The Public Prosecutor wanted to see B. go to prison for 4 years. The young kickboxer also has to pay a fine of 12,000 euros after being stripped of more than 30,000 euros.
Garfield has been found guilty of drug trafficking in Antwerp, among others. According to the Public Prosecutor, B. would have been the head of a ten-member gang, in which each member had fixed tasks.
The gang was mainly active in 2013 and 2014 and had a huge customer base. The court imposed sentences of 12 to 30 months against the other main suspects.
According to Youssef B., the name Garfield is used by more people. His lawyer Sam Vlaminck: ‘In addition, customers do not recognize him as ‘the Garfield’ from who they bought their drugs. My client, a professional kickboxer, stopped around 2014-2015 to fully dedicate himself to his sport, which is also confirmed by his cousin.
