Salvatore Toto Riina – The former leader of the Cosa Nostra, Salvatore Totò Riina, was buried this Wednesday morning in the Sicilian town of Corleone, not far from Palermo in Sicily. Police sealed off the cemetery to avoid any disturbances. There was little public according to Italian media.
The coffin was transported by ship from Parma, where the capo of the Sicilian mafia died in hospital last Friday. On the cemetery the widow of the capo di tutti capi, Ninetta Bagarella was present, together with the children Maria Concetta, Salvo, and Lucia. After a short blessing by a priest, they left the cemetery under escort from the police.
According to Italian media, neither the burial nor the death of Riina caused visible emotion among the population of Corleone.
